The project involves the transformation of a 120 sq.m. apartment in the center of Athens into contemporary open-plan office spaces.
The design aims to create a functional and flexible working environment, with twelve workstations positioned at the core of the layout and two enclosed offices maintaining visual continuity with the main workspace.
The characteristic compartmentalization of old Athenian apartments was approached as an opportunity to redefine spatial relationships. By selectively removing interior walls, a generous unified space emerges, where the exposed concrete beams are celebrated as a key architectural and material feature of the composition.
In the main office area, the absence of a false ceiling posed challenges in concealing the air-conditioning units and shutter boxes. This was resolved through a continuous perimeter wooden structure with integrated storage, functioning as a visual beam that ties the outer walls together.
The existing herringbone parquet flooring is preserved and restored where possible, while in areas of significant wear, a light-toned vinyl floor is proposed to harmonize with the overall palette.
The interior design seeks to establish a calm and balanced atmosphere through a neutral color palette and respect for the existing materials. In the open workspace, acoustic partitions are introduced between desks to ensure sound comfort and visual privacy, while maintaining openness and light flow throughout the room.
