The project involves the construction of two identical single-storey residences with a basement and an internal courtyard, located in the area of Rio, just outside Patras. Each residence has a total area of 120 sq.m. and is designed as part of a cohesive, functional composition that reflects a contemporary interpretation of domestic living, balancing privacy with spatial fluidity and freedom of movement.
At the heart of the composition lies the courtyard, which serves as the central spatial and functional core of the design. Through this element, natural light and ventilation are introduced into the basement, making it suitable for everyday living activities rather than merely auxiliary use. The courtyard brings daylight deep into the interior while acting as a tranquil focal point for relaxation and visual continuity within the house.
From the same courtyard, an external metal staircase provides access to the rooftop of each residence, enhancing the vertical connectivity of the spaces and offering an additional outdoor living level. The overall design emphasizes clean geometry, minimal detailing, and a restrained palette of materials, resulting in a contemporary yet timeless architectural expression that combines simplicity with spatial richness.
